Project Overview
Developer and builder Ryan Zygar commissioned the young office of Daniel Toole Architecture (DTA) to design a longtime dream of his – a community of modern houses in a suburban setting, something often seen in Europe, but not yet present in the Vancouver area. DTA utilized the Felida site’s unique topography, views to Salmon Creek, and natural seasonal wetland to create an integrated community of homes and landscapes. The houses integrate into the natural slope of the site and present a low-profile, unassuming face to the street, but step down into double-height glazed living spaces that open onto the wetlands and views of Salmon Creek and Mount St. Helens beyond. Lush, natural plantings and local materials like cedar and fir allow these contemporary homes to create a refreshing vision for what suburban life in the Pacific Northwest can be. Land development started in June 2021 and will be completed in Fall 2021.
